Catching Fire

The Reading Queen is back! I finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. (second book of Hunger Games) Now I won't say anything about the first book because I don't want to ruin anything if you do read it. (It is very good though) Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games! She and her fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. You would think Katniss would be relieved, happy even. After all she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing seems to be quite the same like Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta almost turns his back to her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol-a rebellion that Katniss & Peeta have helped create...Much to her shock, Katniss fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. But what scares her  more is she isn't entirely convinced she should even try! As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are much higher than ever! If they can't prove they are lost in their star-crossed love the consequences will be horrifying. In this second book Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen testing her more than ever & shocking readers at every turn. This book will have you asking questions til the every end of the book. Makes you want to read til  the clocks hits 12! I loved the book. Shocking every time I turned the page. I just couldn't wait to see what happened next. It makes you think! I love this book. READ THE BOOK!It will keep you on the edge of your seat so watch out. -Hannah :D

The Hunger Games

I just finished another book...I am like the Reading Queen right now. (Don't worry I have many more books to read) Now this book is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Yes..I am just now done with that book and they are already making a movie. Winning means fame & fortune. Losing means certain death. The Hunger Games have begun...There are 12 districts in North America and lies a nation of Panem. The Captiol is a hash and curl place. Every year one boy and one girl between the ages of 12-18 is pick to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. (MEAN!!) For 16 year-old Katniss Everdeen is a death sentence when she steps forward to take her younger sister, Prim's place in the games. But for Katniss who has been close to death and survival before this is second nature. Without meaning to she becomes a contender. But if she is to win she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. I love this book!!! I can't wait to read the second one. This book will have you craving for  more. Your eyes will be glued to this book til midnight when your parents tell you to go to bed! All I can say it is wonderfully written & a must read book!!!! I bet the movie will be too...once it comes out at least. LOL :) Keep on reading those books & if you have any books you think I would like, please tell me. I am always open to a new book! Oh promise to have something soon that isn't about a book. :) -Hannah

Taken

I just finished another book! It was called Taken by Edward Bloor. It sets in 2035 where kidnapping is a major growth industry in the United States. The children of privilege live in secure, gated communities and are escorted to and from school by armed guards. (OUCH! I would hate that...) But the security around Charity Meyers has broken down...On New Year's morning, Charity finds herself in an ambulance that's not moving, she is strapped to a stretcher, and is alone! She is calm.  Kids in her neighborhood have been well trained in kidnapping protocol. Do not panic. Do not try to escape. Wait for your parents to pay the ransom and you will be set free. But this is no normal kidnapping...as the hours of her imprisonment tick by, Charity realizes there is NOTHING normal about what's happening here. No training could prepare her for what her kidnappers really want and who they really are....I read this book and...it makes you lock on to every word, every story, every word or thought that the characters say or think! It just kept shocking me! U may think you know what is going to happen but you won't. This is not normal but its so good (And beside what so good about being normal?) You end up so happy in the end but you are left to make your ending. I couldn't stop reading it! It shows you should live your life out all the time but in God! I really liked this book and I kept being shocked, I laughed, I cried, I wondered, and I screamed! (not really but you know) READ THIS BOOK! You won't regate it. Love it...& no I am not going to tell you the ending. So go out and get this book please...!!

Schooled

I am like a reading queen right now...sorry but I just finished another book (don't worry I have even more books I haven't put up yet & haven't read) called SCHOOLED by Gordon Korman. Its about this 13 year old boy named Capricorn (Cap) Anderson who is kinda like a hippie. Cap has never watched TV, never tasted a pizza, never even heard of a wedgie and since he was little his only experience has been living on a farm and being home schooled by his hippie grandmother, Rain. But when Rain falls out of tree while picking plums and needs to stay in a hospital, Cap is forced to move in with a guidance counselor (who lived once with Rain when she was little so she knows what Cap is like from how she was) and her cranky 16 year old daughter and attend the local middle school. While Cap knows a lot about tie-dying, Zen Buddhism, no education could prepare him for the politics of public school. Right from the beginning Cap's weirdness makes him a moving target at Claverage Middle School (known as C Average by the students). He has long ungroomed hair, wears hemp clothes, and does tai chi out on the front lawn. Once Zach Powers, big hot shot at school who's mean, can't wait to show Cap the age-old tradition at C Average: the biggest nerd is nominated for class president....and wins! Will Cap turn out to be greatest president in the history of C Average or will it blow up in his face...??READ THE BOOK I WON'T TELL U!!This book is SO good though. Its funny but it shows how bad some people can be. Here is a lesson from the book to, don't judge a book by its cover. Just because someone looks weird, sounds silly, can't do something right, or just isn't the smartest person in the world doesn't mean they are an out case or should be made fun it! It isn't nice it hurts and before you open you mouth think how you would feel if someone said something mean about you...you feel bad and so does that person so don't judge. I loved this book...read it. Peace out baby! :) Hope u like my tie-dry colors!

The Juvie Three

I just finished the book The Juvie Three by Gordon Korman. Its about these 3 guys who all have gone to jail for something. Gecko Fosse drove the getaway car. Terence Florian ran with the worst gang in Chicago. Arjay Moran killed someone...(read the book 2 the get the whole thing down) all these boys are serving time in juvenile detention until they get a second chance from Douglas Healy. Who at their age was just like them, a juvenile delinquent. Mr. Healy is running an experimental halfway house in New York City, where he wants to make a difference in the lifes of these 3 kids. Things go well until one night Mr.Healy is accidentally knocked unconscious while trying to stop a fight between Gecko, Terence, and Arjay. Scared of the consequences, they drop him off at a hospital and run! But once Mr. Healy wakes up he has no memory of them, his life, or the halfway house! Afraid of being sent back to jail the guys hatch a crazy plan to continue on as if their group leader was still with them. They go to school, community service, therapy, and act like good normal citizens until Mr. Healy's memory returns and then come back to live with them. But life keeps getting in the way like when Gecko finds romance, Arjay gets famous, and Terence goes back to his dumb life old ways. And the woman from Social Services won't give until she finds a way to send them back to jail! If the boys are found out...their second chance may be their last! I really liked this book. It shows a different kind of life...there is action that makes your heart beat and makes you wonder,"What the heck will they do next?!" Then you got luck, love, and some poor choices. I really liked it..some may not but this book is good! Go get this book, it teaches you something...but I wouldn't say these guys are good role modals but I do love this book! :)

My 13 Birthday & Parties!

My birthday was Nov 17, I turned 13 (about time!LOL) The weekend before my birthday was my family party.  My dad's sister's family came, my grandmother & mom's sister's family came, my great aunt & uncle & my great grandmother, my cousin Ricky, then of course my other 2 cousins who came with their parents. My cousins, Regan & Sam played with my Sparklers, I kept from 4th of July. I helped my mom make my Key Lime Pie Birthday Cake! Then this weekend which was after my birthday my friends came over. It was a sleepover but only some stayed for the sleepover part. It was SO much fun! I couldn't stop from laughing. But my dad wanted ear pugs...hehehehe there was a lot of laughing but hey what else do you think teen girls are going to do? And yes...I have pictures! One cause my mom is always taking pictures & pictures make memories. That is why I am on Yearbook Staff...LOL! But I think my 13th birthday is one I won't be forgetting anytime soon! I had so much fun and I am so thankful for my family & friends that God has given me. Now as promised here are some pictures, its not all of them but you know I can only put so many up. Veteran' Day 2011

Happy 1 day late Veterans' Day! Yesterday was also 11-11-11. Which only happens in like 100 years. Next year it will be 12-12-12, but after that it won't happen until...2101 for 01-01-01. There's your little SS class for today. (LOL!) In my ELA class we wrote letters to veterans at a hospital. I know they will love the letters we wrote! My great grandfather is a veteran, he fought in World War 2. My brother & I found some things that he kept from it 2! It was sooo cool. But he died last year after Christmas but I know if it wasn't for him & all the other veterans that fought we wouldn't be here today in this fair country called USA! They were brave enough to go out & fight for our freedom, our rights, our education, our arts, & so much more! We should celebrate veterans every day though because they did so much for us. God bless America! :) Thank u to all of those who fought & all of those people who are family members of those who fought 2.

Career Poem

Dreams are like stars falling in the night sky
To be a fashion designer, that is my dream
But I have back up dreams, like to write or to help kids
Live in a house with 3 kids, a great husband, and a pet to love
Always been creative, ideas in my head, and make a difference in this world
I will work hard every day, for one day I know I will fulfill my dream!
Hannah Kay Elmore
Hey! We had to write a poem about our career & this is what I wrote, and I also earned it in the consent! IDK what they will think of my poem...but I hope u guys like it! :)

Firegirl

I just finished the book Firegirl by Tony Abbott. I got this book last year & I ran out of books so I grabbed this out of my book self. Here is what the book says: "There is.....," Mrs. Tracy was saying quietly, "there is something you need to know about Jessica...." Wow..sounds bad...from this moment on, life is never quiet the same 4 Tom & his 7th grade classmates. Despite Jessica's shocking appearance from when she was burned and the fear she evokes in him and most of the class, Tom slowly develops a tentative friendship with Jessica that will change him in his life. This book shows me...life is so easy 2 loss..but God helps every1 & gets us though it. It shows how mean some people can be about how someone looks. Ever heard the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover."? Well that is true just because someone may look bad or like in this story burned it doesn't matter, all that matters is what is on the inside! I mean if u made a good friendship with someone who every1 was scared of would u have the courage 2 hold their hand, go 2 their house, or even just talk 2 them?! This book teaches something people really should know...so go read this book! It was really good! :)

The Tail Of Emily Windsnap

Sorry I haven't written anything on books 4 a while. I just kept forgetting. But I finished this book..a while ago. LOL! It is The Tail Of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler. It is about a girl named Emily Windsnap, she lives on a boat with her mom. She doesn't have a dad, never meat him. But u will hear about that later in the story...anyway. Everybody has a secret but hers is a little different. She didn't even know about it until the first day of swimming class in 7th grade. As you know...Emily as never been allowed in the water before but as it turns out it comes very naturally...in fact so naturally that you might even say ..well it is true and that is her secret: She found out she is a mermaid. I loved this book....I couldn't put it down. There are 4 books of these. And I am on the 3rd no worries I will write what is about th second 1. I like 2 look at it by seeing Emily finds herself. And she now has that hole in her heart fixed to me but there are many problems ahead 4 her  and she doesn't know what to do but she has people who will help her though it! She doesn't really know who trust to but though it all it always turns out to be good. READ IT :)

Just Being Myself

Just being Myself
I don’t want to be the girl who laughs odd, sometimes I have a broken heart, I fall in love way to easily, I get hurt, I turn red a lot, I always try to do my best, I get stressed….a lot, wonder if I am too smart or I act dumb too much, never know when I want to cry, when I want to smile, or when I am in a bad mood. Sometimes I know where I stand, I stand out in the crowd, I am being myself, I am confident, I know who I am and I am not changing that, I just walk off and smile to the world but sometimes….I am in the crowd, I am just like everyone else, I try not be seen, I am just so shy, I just don’t want to stick out like I am some weirdo, and I want to be someone else. But then I look at all the things I am, the people I like to be with, the things I do, the way I look, and act. Then I see…I like who I am, sometimes I want to change but when I think about it…this is the way God made me and I like how God made me. I like it, you don’t have to, just me. I will always be myself.  Dosen’t matter what others think of you just matters what you think. Because if you don’t feel right then you aren’t being yourself! Don’t change for anyone. Just be yourself no matter if you are super smart, shy, different, odd, or whatever you are, stay the same. That is who people really like you! I wrote this and I hope u like it! Just remember 2 always be yourself.

Dolphin Tale

My grandmother took my cousin and me to go see Dolphin Tale. It just came out and it is based on a true story. A dolphin loses it whole tale and dolphins can't live without their tale not forever at least. But this dolphin keeps swimming. But in this movie a boy finds Winter and they have 2 cut the tale off because its hurting it. And the boy has 2 go 2 summer school but he keeps going 2 see the dolphin. He meets new friends and Winter loves him doesn't want him 2 leave. After he gets his mom 2 go along with it he keeps going but he has cousin who went off to war but his leg doesn't work and after seeing him the boy has an idea. He asks to put something on the dolphin's tale and the doctor says no one in their right mind would do this but I am not in my right  mind. So he says yes. After a few  trys it doesn't work the dolphin moves its tale side 2 side and it can't do that without dieing but then the boy has an idea but another problem to...the place holding Winter has no money can't go on. But the  kids find a way to make it keep going. The dolphin is saved, the place is saved, and the boy has a great life ahead of him. I loved this movie! So good for any kids and parents. Winter touched many people's heart...and this was great. I think the message was never giving up even when u feel broken. Go out and see this movie! :)

Hatchet

My ELA teacher gave us a novel 2 read and it was Hatchet. I felt like i knew the name but I never read it. Hatchet was written by Gary Paulsen and this book won the Newbery Honor Book It is about survival. And last year my ELA teacher got us 2 read another 1 like it called The Cay and I thought I would not like it but I actually loved it! Now back 2 Hatchet.....it is about  13-year-old Brian Robeson. Who is on his way 2 his father's house on a single plan when the plan crashes. Suddenly Brian finds himself alone in the Canadian wildness with  nothing but his clothes, a tattered windbreaker, and his hatchet that his mother gave him as a gift-and the dreadful secret  that has been tearing him apart ever since his parents' divorce, or the Secret as he calls it. But now Brian has no time for anger self-pity, or despair-it will take all his know-how and determination, and more courage than he knew he possessed, to survive. It is a good book. Teaches Brian a good lesson, don't be sad, don't sit in your own self-pity because that won't get anywhere!

Finding a Cure for Cancer

Hey I wrote this for science and someone told me to put it on my blog. Hope you like it!
 Finding a Cure for Cancer
Picture being a scientist on the verge of finding the cure for cancer. Saving all those life’s from dying each year. Cancer is a leading cause of death. Roughly 500,000 people die from cancer each year. Around 1,479,350 people get cancer each year. Every day 1,500 people die from cancer. About 63 people die every hour of every day.  Now think about saving all of them. Making their life longer than they thought. Why should their life be short? When we can make them longer. As a scientist that is my dream, to save all those life’s from passing away. Cancer doesn’t have to a fear from people any more. Help us to find a cure! Hopefully my dream will be true very soon.

Middle School The Worst Years of My Life

I finished this book called Middle School the Worst Years of My Life by James Patterson who was voted Children's Choice Author of the Year. Plus I read this before I started middle school. If you have started middle school or about to go into to it read this story it could help you.....survive. Also you will laugh your guts out on every page! Rafe has quite the story to tell you. Rafe made up a"game" that breaks every rule in the book. Here is what I want to say he thinks Normal is BORING!! Rafe fell sort of in "like" with the most popular girl in school, accidentally on purpose hurt all the people he cares about, he went into the soda business but got busted, wrestled with a real live bear repeatedly, .sold his soul to a bully a $1 at the time, & fought and overcome the Dragon Lady. I don't think you should do what he has done unless you want to end up like him. But read the stuff to find out! I loved this book I agree how Normal is boring & you should be yourself. But don't go overboard like Rafe did. It’s a great book! :)

Curiosity Killed the Cat

I finished a book called Curiosity Killed the Cat. Its about a girl named Hannah. Hannah isn't thrilled to be moving in with her dad and his new family, who live in a house this close to a spooky cemetery. Luckily Hannah doesn't believe all the "ghost cat" stories she's heard about the graveyard. (well doesn't believe yet) Besides, Hannah has bigger worries:Her EVIL stepsister, Madison, is a total mean girl. Hannah's cat, Icky, has been missing since Hannah moved from her mom's. and worst of all, every night something scratches at her door but when she looks, nothing is there! Hannah's staring to wonder-could those scary cat stories be true after all?! I really liked this book. And what makes it even better is the main character has my name and has a black cat & so do I. Plus my Princess has ran away a few times and I was always worried. I love the book!! :)

Smoky Mountains

My family went to the Smoky Mountains where my grandmother (Mema, dad's mom) lives. It felt better there than here. It still was hot but it was 85 not 95 or HIGHER!! Hahaha....my big brother, J.C., and dad golfed while mom and I shopped and bumped around (And I mean literally , I hit my head on wooden hanger of Maggie (in Maggie Valley-Maggie is the woman who represents the city) and it was raining so I slipped and it really hurt!) That was the low of my day. LOL!! :) And my mom & I took a lots of pictures, hope u like! The Pictures:My brother golfing, me working on the laptop writing my book, The Great Smoky Mountains, me eating Ice Cream, and me on a turtle.

The Smurfs

My mom and I went to go see The Smurfs! It was very cute, funny, and good 4 any kid. My mom watched the cartoon when it was on. There are 99 smurfs (there is only 1 girl made from the wizard) and their Papa. They are all named after their presently. Like Brainy, Clumsy, or Grouchy. There is an Evil Wizard and his funny cat who want the smurfs magic. But when they go after them on the Blue Moon some of the smurfs end up in New York City. Can u think about small little blue people in one of the biggest cities ever? It was a cute, funny, and any kid or adult would love it. I may be a little older 4 the movie but one thing I know childhood never dies! :)

Everybody Bugs Out

I finished a book called Everyone Bugs Out. By Leslie Margolis. It is about Annabelle, who loves her new school and her new great friends! But suddenly they are all freaking over the first school dance. And here comes the hard part, everyone has dates or are getting them. Plus the science fair is going on. And Annabelle knows who she wants as a date: Oliver, nice, smart, and a great smile plus he is one of her science partners. So Annabelle founds out they work great with each other. (To bad Tobias ruins it when they talk!) So what is the big problem?? Claire, one of Annabelle's great friends likes Oliver and she sort of called dibs. How can Annabelle work so closely with her secret crush and stay true to her friend? It is not all fun and games 4 this troubled pre-teen. I really liked this book. I couldn't put it down but at sometimes I just wanted Annabelle to do what would have been better than not telling her friends about her crush on Oliver. It has good advise on how to do the same thing if it happens 2 u. Any girl can find a new best friend in this book. It ended with a good note but u may wanted it 2 keep going and see where it ends up. But right now I wish Leslie Margolis would come up with a new book that tells us more.

Granddaddy Jack Drawing

This is a drawing I drew. It is of my dad, my big brother, J.C, my great grandfather, & me. My great grandfather died and like I said in the post "Family Garden" dad took over the garden. And we grew 100 tomatoes plants! And my dad said somewhat up in Heaven Jack was smiling down on us. And I knew he was. Then I got an idea 4 this drawing. I think up in Heaven there are a lot of tomatoes! I think it is a good. I hope u like it 2! :')

Dreamer

This is our other cat, Dreamer. When we lived in our old house there were a lot of cats around us. There were 4 cats. We gave all of them names even if not all of them came in. We found Dreamer & we guess her daughter, Storm, (I gave both of them their names) so dad got both of them inside our house on those cold days. Storm didn't like it, but Dreamer did and became an inside cat! u can see in this picture of who her daddy is. Dreamer loves my dad. Dreamer loves everyone (unlike my cat, my cat only loves me!) but Dreamer has someone special. Then when we moved Dream came with us. And Dreamer hasn't gone outside since. Dreamer loves everyone, loves hugs, loving, napping, and bathing! Dreamer will always be ours. :)

Girls acting Catty

I finished a book called, "Girls acting Catty" by Leslie Margolis. It is about Annabelle, who just started middle school somewhere new & it hasn't been that bad.  She made a great group of friends, and it turns out that teaching those wild boys how 2 act is a lot like training a puppy! But Annabelle encounters a new breed of trouble: Taylor and the Three Terrors. There isn't any training manual for these cool cats. They don't like Annabelle or her friends. But sometimes Taylor acts super nice to Annabelle and she feels torn. Is Miss Popularly being fake?! Or has Annabelle found the wrong friends?! Plus there is a big change that is going to happen for Annabelle and her family. As Annabelle grows up, there are changes she doesn't think she is ready to face...but in the end it turns out really good. I really liked this book!! I think I would recommend this book to any girl. A lot of girls can relate to it just by what Annabelle is going though. Plus she has the change in her family. It is a great book and I can't wait til I read the third 1!! :)

Boys are Dogs

I finished the book  "Boys are Dogs" by Leslie Margolis. It is about a girl named Annabelle. When Annabelle comes back home after summer camp, her life is sooo different. She is moving into her mom's boyfriend, who happens to be very geeky, and which means starting 6th grade at a new school! She used to all girls school so it is her first time going 2 school with boys. The boys practically running in the halls like wild animals. And Annabelle's new puppy is taking over the house by peeing on the carpet, chewing on her NEW clothes, and training him isn't easiest. But the puppy came with a training manual so at least she has one thing under control. Unless....can you train a boy like you train a dog?? I liked this book. Its good for any girl. I to agree some boys are dogs but not all...LOL!!  And I think any girl can learn something from Annabelle. :)

Family Garden

This our big garden. (NOT little, BIG)  My great grandfather used to do this during the summer. But my great grandfather died on Dec 29, 2010. And my dad is a great gardener so he took over it. And he gets help from his family. (maybe not as much as he would like, Lol!!) We even sell the stuff we grow! We sell tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, & sometimes corn. The only day we don't sell is Sunday or when dad thinks we don't have enough at that time to sell. When I want 2 relax I sit in the haminke where when I was a kid, J.C. & I would fight over it, but we shared it or tried 2 sit on it together. So if u or your parents want some fresh food go 2 to Woodruff Rd where it has a sign out saying,"Tomatoes, Zucchini,, Cucumber's" . I have had fun working in the Garden (even if it is like 100 out) & I know my great grandfather is smiling up in Heaven. :)

4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone! Yesterday my family & my Miemie went to see my chunch's band play & a fireworks show!! I had fun. And I have SPARKLERS & Pop-Its 2 play with tonight. I thank God 4 all the stuff he has given us. And one of them is 4 making USA where we can do stuff with a say! Hope everyone has a great 4th of July without getting 2 hot! LOL :)

Midnight Howl

I finished a book called Midnight Howl by Clare Hutton. It is a Poison Apple Book. It is about a girl named Marisol. Her apartment building needed everyone 2 move out 4 a few months (the building needed a complete rewiring or there might be a fire!) so Marisol's mom wanted to go to a ranch in Montana where her best friend from collage lives with her two twelve-year-old twins! Marisol is very excited but while Jack is very welcoming, nice, &.....cute, Hailey is less than friendly. But Marisol's new friend, Lily warns her about the wolves in town-wolves that are not the safest during a full moon.....But when Marisol finds out Hailey disappear late one night on a full moon she starts to wonder......could she be living with a real live WEREWOLF?! I really liked this book. There are some dangerous things in this book that makes you want to keep reading & even makes you scared 4 the main character. But it leaves you with some questions but that is what makes it good! :)

Words from Me

Be Heard! Be Strong! Be Proud! Don't be afraid to speak your  mind even if you are the only one who thinks its right. Be yourself not someone else. Stand up 4 your friends, family, people, & yourself. Do what's right. Think before you act or speak. Follow your dreams one day you may have it. Don't be 2 hard on yourself. You have talent! You are special no matter what someone tells you. Don't forget that there are always people who love you & one of them is God. God, your family, & your friends will give you strength!
